No Pens Day Wednesday

4th October 2017

To celebrate ‘No Pens Day Wednesday’, Year 6 were able to explore patterns in maths and practise some of their Year 5 and 6 statutory spellings to help them with their writing.

In Maths, we started with 6 multi-link cubes of various colours. In pairs, we tried to make as many patterns as we could and took pictures of each one. We tried to be systematic by only changing one cube at a time in a line. We then moved on to exploring different shapes with various patterns. We had lots of discussion using mathematical language.

In English, we used art straws, wool, match sticks and pipe cleaners to spell some of our statutory spellings.
