What do we mean by SEN?

SEN stands for ‘Special Educational Needs’.  It refers to those children who require some form of special educational provision, namely different from, or additional to that normally available to children of the same age.  It is part of whole-school Inclusion.

There are four categories of SEN as dictated by the new SEN Code of Practice.  These are:

    • Communication and Interaction
    • Cognition and Learning
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health
    • Sensory and/or Physical Needs
