Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Longmoor Community Primary School – a welcoming and inclusive learning community, where leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and governors are united in our belief that we can transform the life opportunities of every child in our school by offering them the highest-quality education possible, fully preparing them for secondary school and life beyond. Every child in our school is challenged to achieve their full potential as engaged, articulate and independent learners. We have high expectations of them which they respond to with excellent behaviour and attitudes to learning.

Our dedicated and caring staff work extremely hard to deliver an engaging, innovative curriculum which deepens pupils’ skills, knowledge and understanding. Of no less importance is the personal growth of our children – we want them to be strong in body, mind and spirit.

We have high expectations in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, with excellent outcomes. We know that communication is a key life skill, so developing our pupils’ speech and language skills is a thread running through the whole school from rapid diagnosis & addressing of language issues in Early Years to debating and public-speaking in Key Stage 2. We are also an Oracy hub school for the VoiceLiverpool programme.

Our Humanities curriculum is academically rigorous and gives pupils the opportunity to delve deeply into their studies. Creative Arts is a strength of the school – all pupils learn to play an instrument and our choir and orchestra perform regularly.

We want our children to be aware of their role as global citizens so they speak Mandarin Chinese and have strong links with schools in China and Uganda. Pupils show themselves highly capable and caring in roles of responsibility in school such as School Councillor, House Captain, Play Leader and Playground Buddy. Through initiatives such as our annual ‘Spread a Little Kindness’ week, they engage with compassion and empathy in the local community.

We have a spacious, modern building with well-resourced classrooms for our pupils. Our first-class Computing provision includes a fully-stocked IT suite, class sets of laptops and iPads and the latest in computing technology available to all pupils. Two halls and a large playground area enable us to offer excellent PE provision and a wide variety of other activities. Our bright and welcoming Early Years wing has its own outdoor provision and well-equipped playground for our younger pupils. We are also able to offer extended hours in our Nursery; in-school Breakfast/After-School provision through our partnership with Community Family Services and Holiday provision with Aintree Day Nursery.

Whilst this website can give you a flavour of our school, there is no substitute for seeing the ‘Longmoor Community’ in action. If you are interested in visiting our school, please contact the office to arrange a time to do so. We would welcome a chance to show you what we can offer your child.
