The Union of Catholic Mothers pay a visit to Reception!

27th June 2018

The Union of Catholic Mothers (UCM) – long-time good friends of Longmoor – paid a visit to see the children in Reception today, as part of ‘When I Grow Up…’ week.  Terri, Theresa, Mary, Olive and Moya came to talk to us about the jobs they held when they were younger, their ambitions and the roles they play within the UCM now.  We learnt new vocabulary (including the staff!) such as ‘comptometer’, and discussed the roles of ‘Treasurer’ and ‘President’.  The ladies also read stories to small groups of children and answered questions.  Finally, we presented the UCM with the money raised by our book sale during ‘Spread a Little Kindness’ week.  The ladies will let us know how they use the money raised, and took suggestions from the children about how it could help our local community.
