Year 6 visit Maghull High School’s Science Labs

5th December 2017

Monday 4th December 2017

On Monday 4th December, Year 6 were fortunate to visit the science labs at Maghull High School. We were able to take part in a practical science lesson based on ‘Living Things’ which is part of our science topic this term. Firstly, we used microscopes to observe various cells e.g. liver. Then we collected a sample of our cells from our cheeks and prepared a slide with them on it which we could then look at using the microscope. Finally, we tested various places in the room to see where micro-organisms grow. We put a sample onto agar jelly and now we have to wait a couple of days for the results. When we look at them, we should conclude which places in the science lab are more prone to micro-organisms than others.
