Archaeology Pit!

15th May 2018

Excavation of the archaeological pit has begun!  The archaeologists have found fossils, teeth, bones, claws and eggs already, and the pit has only been open for one day so far!  The children are taking care to process their finds properly – they dig using trowels, sift the soil carefully, measure the object, inspect it with a magnifying glass, brush loose dirt from it, wash it and display it.  Our next step is to label and date finds, and we intend to make a ‘Finds Office’ with the children, where the archaeologists will be able to record their discoveries.  Keep looking for further updates!
