Being of service assembly KS2

15th September 2018

This week, our KS2 assembly was on the theme of Being of Service to others.

We had a special visitor, Avril from Claire’s House, who came to talk to us about Claire’s House Hospice and the hard work they do to care for sick children. She told us about Lydia Smith, a Year 6 pupil from last year, who raised money for the charity by completing a run. We talked about the fact that Lydia was serving the charity by raising the money for them. Lydia’s sister accepted the certificate on her behalf.

We also talked about how we can be of service to others in our school. We spoke to children who hold key roles in school – Play Leaders, Playground Buddies, House Captains, School Councillors, Reading Revolutionaries. Some of the children we spoke to hold, or have held, more than one role! We talked about how these children have given up their time for training so that they can serve the people in their school. The children were encouraged to run for School Council – speeches are due this coming Friday, so hopefully everyone is preparing for the upcoming elections!

And to end on a really exciting piece of news – a very well done to classes 10, 11 and 14 who all had 100% attendance this week!
