Fireworks, poppies and bottles!

15th November 2017

The children continue to impress us with their creative skills, producing more beautiful firework pictures – this time using cardboard rolls.  Click this link to see how you can make them at home:

We also wrote some messages to go in bottles down the river for our ‘Journey’ display – this prompted lots of independent play, with the children writing lots of letters, putting them in plastic bottles and then placing them in the water tray.  It also prompted a lovely rendition of ‘Ten Green Bottles’!

The week ended with the children learning about Armistice Day – they watched a short video and coloured in some poppy wreaths.  We were also invited by Mrs. Grundy to attend Year 5’s assembly about Remembrance, based on our excellent behaviour at the Christmas fair assembly!  This is really exciting – usually, our Reception classes don’t begin to attend whole-school celebration assemblies until after Christmas!  Once again, the children were fantastic – they listened respectfully to our Year 5 children, sat beautifully and even received good work certificates from Mrs.Grundy.  We are very, very proud of them.
