Ice painting and frozen animals!

30th January 2018

The children have had lots of fun playing with ice this month – we’ve been painting with frozen paint, painting blocks of ice and freezing plastic polar animals in water!  It was worth getting cold hands – painting with ice cubes is tricky but exciting, and painting ice blocks instead of painting paper was great!  When the polar animals were put in water inside labelled trays, the children couldn’t imagine what might happen to them after they were frozen – lots of fantastic vocabulary was heard as they ‘released’ the penguins and polar bears after a night in the freezer!  These ice activities are easy ones to try at home – we froze paint in ice cube trays, and put the animals in food containers with water.  Try adding salt once the water is frozen, and watch it melt!
