International School Award

15th September 2016

We are delighted to share with you the exciting news that Longmoor has been reaccredited with the British Council’s International School Award! Gaining this prestigious award highlights all of the wonderful work that pupils produce, both when learning a new language and when learning about a different culture.

We have worked hard in our year groups as well as with partner schools all over the world over the last few years and each pupil’s love of learning languages and discovering new customs and cultures has really shone through. All our pupils currently learn Spanish, but we have more plans this year to extend our International Curriculum, offering Mandarin Chinese lessons taught to Upper Key Stage 2 by teachers from the Confucius Institute and forging links with new partner schools in China.

In autumn term, we will also be working on an exciting ‘Festivals of Light’ project where each year group will study a different country and their annual festival of light; we can’t wait for you to see all of our hard work!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents, pupils and teachers of Longmoor for all of their hard work which has contributed towards us achieving this prestigious award.
