Pulse Rate Investigation

5th October 2016

Today Year 5 had the chance to combine PE and physical activity with an important investigation that they had planned last week. We needed to answer an important question (what happens to our pulse rate when we exercise?) and therefore needed a way to find our answer.

We planned a series of activities including jumping, running, skipping, jogging and walking.

We recorded our pulse rate before doing any exercise to find our resting heart rate and then recorded it afterwards. To make sure it was a fair test, we completed each exercise three times, and recorded our heart rate after each occasion.

We need to analyse our results next, so watch this space!
