'Real Life' Maths Day - Years 5 & 6

1st November 2016

Some children from years 5 and 6 spent an enjoyable and rewarding day working with one of the U.K’s leading maths tutors, Ian Botwright. They explored a variety of adventure sports scenarios using their maths skills.

During the visit, we talked about how we use maths in real life. We measured the area needed for a tent – a useful skill for camping. This was our favourite activity. Furthermore, we learnt about some of the maths skills required when orienteering, including how to use a compass and read an Ordnance Survey map.
