No Pens Wednesday

7th October 2016

On Wednesday 5th October it was ‘No Pens Wednesday’ and as part of universal communication, we put our pencils to one side and accessed our learning in a different way.

For English, we worked in small groups to bring out our inner actors, by taking on the role of a character from our topic book ‘Flat Stanley’. We enjoyed interviewing each other through ‘hot seating’, expressing our feelings through ‘conscience ally’ and arguing our opinions through ‘point of view’. It was fantastic to listen to everybody’s determination and enthusiasm towards their character.

We then explored 3D shapes in Maths. Firstly, we focused on imagining real-life objects, showing our understanding, before linking to our Ancient Egypt topic by building our own square based pyramids. We had lots of fun creating our pyramids from a net and they came out looking fantastic!

In the afternoon our classes thoroughly enjoyed painting and decorating their own sarcophagus! The time and detail put into them was outstanding and every single member of year 3 should be extremely proud of themselves! Well done year 3!

Keep a look out for photos to follow!
