#ToTheStars for Zoe's Place

7th July 2017

Our school choir participated in a very special concert at SFX Church in Everton this weekend. Held to raise funds for children’s charity Zoe’s Place, performing at the concert were four school choirs (Longmoor, St. Matthew’s, Pleasant Street & St. Francis de Sales), Formby Brass Band and the North London Symphonic Orchestra.

After an afternoon of dress rehearsals and a lunch break in the beautiful gardens of Hope University’s Creative Campus right next door to the church, the concert began with the band and orchestra playing a selection of instrumental pieces. Two of the school choirs then performed and the first half ended with the massed bands & choirs singing ‘We Are The Young’. In the second half, the other two school choirs performed, and Longmoor wowed the audience with two solo pieces – ‘Any Dream Will Do’ from ‘Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and a medley from the Disney film ‘Moana’. The whole evening culminated in the massed bands & choirs performing together again for ‘To The Stars’ by Nigel Hess – a highly technical piece which required acute concentration and listening skills from our young performers. The audience were brought to its feet by this exciting finale and gave a standing ovation! What a night for Longmoor’s choir and the families who came to support them.

We are always proud of our children, but on this night they really surpassed themselves, represented the school wonderfully and school also contributed £220 to the grand total for Zoe’s Place by purchasing two tickets for the family of each choir member.
