Week 1 Round Up

9th September 2016

Well, what a challenging and stimulating week!

First, we’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you all once again to Year 5 – you have settled in beautifully and you truly are responding well to the challenges that Year 5 has already presented.

We’ve spent our time this week beginning our new topics, and we’re pleased to see that you have engaged in everything that we’ve asked you to do. In English, we have begun to explore Persuasive Writing and you have already started to identify persuasive features, arguments, opinions, facts and much more!

Mathematics has started with Place Value, and you have worked well to identify, compare & order numbers with up to 7 digits (that’s literally millions!). You have shown your ability to read numbers both in written and numeric form, and also your expertise with mathematical symbols such as ‘less than’ and ‘greater than’.

We’re also looking forward to continuing our research and replication of William Morris wallpapers, tapestries & stained glass windows – have you started any research at home?

Have a lovely weekend!
