14th September 2017

Welcome to our first Reception Blog!  Thank you for your patience and support over the last few days, as your children have started their journey at Longmoor – we are now getting to know who is who at home time, and really appreciate your understanding that this takes time.

Reception Hours

Next week, we will be welcoming and dismissing all the children from the infant yard – we will be there to show you and your children where to be, so please don’t worry!

Doors open at 8.50 in the morning – it’s really important that you’re there on time, since the doors close promptly at 9 so that lessons can begin.  Home time is 3.25, and we will dismiss the children as quickly as we safely can – please remember to stay behind the line so that we have a clear view of who is waiting.

As we get more signed slips returned giving us permission to share photographs, we will post more pictures on this page so that you can see what your children have been getting up to.  (If you still need to return a permission slip, please just ask one of us for a replacement form – thank you to those of you who have already returned them).  We can’t publish photographs if we don’t have written permission to do so.

Next week, the children will be in for full days – including lunchtime!  Our school meals are lovely, and also free for all infant children!  There is always a choice between a hot meal and a salad bar/sandwich option.   We will be there to help them as they get used to this new routine, and if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a member of the team.  Fruit, water and milk are available for your children to choose in class throughout the day.  If your child wishes to bring in a bottle of water, please ensure that it is labelled (and please, no juice!).

We are planning lots of exciting visits within our local and wider community to tie in with our topic of ‘Journeys’, which will start happening very soon – look out for letters!

Book Bags

Please try to encourage your child to remember to bring in their book bag each day – this can be either the clear one that we supplied, or the purchased blue bag.  This makes it so much easier for your child to bring home any letters.  If you have signed the home reading diary, then your child may change their library book every day.

Check the website and book bags for letters and topic webs.
