Music at Longmoor
At Longmoor, we believe that music is an essential part of a rich and balanced education. Music gives children the chance to express themselves, build confidence, and develop important life skills such as listening, teamwork, and perseverance. We are proud to nurture every child's musical ability through a variety of experiences, both in the classroom and beyond.
Our school choir is run in partnership with the Liverpool Cathedral School Singing Programme, which provides expert vocal tuition and the opportunity to take part in inspiring performances. Through this partnership, children learn to use their voices with confidence and control, developing skills in harmony, tone, and musical expression. Singing together also promotes teamwork and a strong sense of community, as pupils support and encourage one another. The experience of performing at Liverpool Cathedral is a highlight for many children, giving them memories and skills that will last a lifetime - we are looking forward to our first performance here!
We are also proud to offer Rocksteady lessons, where pupils can join a real band and learn instruments such as the guitar, keyboard, drums, or vocals. Rocksteady gives children the opportunity to experience the excitement of making music as part of a group, building confidence and stage presence as they prepare for regular performances. The lessons are fun, inclusive, and designed to help every child experience success - no prior musical experience is needed! Pupils not only learn musical skills but also develop important personal qualities such as cooperation, concentration, and resilience.
In addition, pupils have the chance to take part in instrumental tuition with visiting specialist teachers. This gives children the opportunity to learn an instrument in more depth, explore different musical styles, and work towards graded exams if they wish. Learning an instrument helps to strengthen memory, improve fine motor skills, and boost self-discipline - all while bringing a great sense of achievement and enjoyment.
At Longmoor, we value music as a powerful way for children to grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression. Whether performing in assemblies, concerts, or local events, our pupils take great pride in sharing their music with others. We believe that every child should have the chance to discover the joy of music and to develop their talents in a supportive and inspiring environment.
