Welcome to Year 4

A very warm welcome to Year 4! We are so excited to embark on this inspiring and rewarding year with you. Year 4 is a dynamic year where children really begin to blossom into independent, curious, and resilient learners.

Building on their Key Stage 2 journey, we encourage our pupils to take greater ownership of their learning, tackle new challenges with enthusiasm, and support one another as a strong class community. We have high expectations for every child and are committed to helping them reach their full potential, both academically and personally. Throughout the year, we will provide rich opportunities to deepen knowledge, foster creative thinking, and build key skills across all subjects.

Alongside their classroom discoveries, we aim to inspire a genuine love of learning, build lasting friendships, and create memorable experiences that spark curiosity and pride in their achievements. We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 children and the creative, kind, and enthusiastic individuals they are growing to be. We look forward to working closely with families throughout the year to make this a happy, supportive, and successful year at Longmoor.

In June, all Year 4 pupils take part in the statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). This quick online assessment measures recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12, laying the essential groundwork for upper Key Stage 2 maths. The check consists of 25 digital questions, with children given 6 seconds to answer each one. We embed fun, daily times tables practice into our classroom routine to ensure all children feel confident, relaxed, and fully prepared.
